Something Wonderful Has Happened

Something really fantastic happened last night. Barack Obama has been elected 44th President of the United States of America. Now take a look at this more closely because it's more profound than you might think.

It's not just about electing an African American to the presidency but also the changing of the guard. It's a brave new world and everyone senses it.

Have you noticed how the "old guard" republicans have already condemned and doomed this administration to failure? These are the scare tactics they have used ad nauseum forever but it will not work on the enlightened people any longer.

This shift in consciousness is beyond just the election of a young, intelligent and visionary new president. It's also about how the WORLD feels the hope as well, and how we are perceived; that we can shift the hatred, racism and warmongering practices this administration and former republican administrations have wreaked upon the world for far too long.

THIS IS SOMETHING WONDERFUL!

We are living in wonderful times and this is a new energy that will transcend the old politics and rhetoric we've endured since the deaths of Bobby and MLK, Jr.; that we have indeed reached the promise land we have sought for many years. This is not Utopian; this is the real deal.

Let's all get together and make this work for us here in the US and for everyone abroad too.

Get To Your End Game

What does getting to your end game mean anyway? Well, I know this much; you can't get to your destination or anywhere if you don't know where you want to go, right?

To better explain this, my friend Christine Comaford wrote an in depth article to clear the air so to speak.

She is author of her book, Rules For Renegades, and is uniquely qualified to guide us to our end game. So without further adieu, heeeeeeeeeere's Christine!

So many entrepreneurs set out building a business with fabulous intentions. That's why it's such a tragedy that so many businesses never reach acceleration and success. What happens? And how can we build thriving healthy lucrative fun businesses? What's the secret?

You need three things. That's it. I promise.

First you need a support system. The key components of a successful support system are a mentor, a coach, and a community. Your mentor helps you strategize and do only the activities that "move the needle" – meaning that move your company forward from zero to 10 miles per hour, or from 10 to 40 mph, or from 40 to 90 mph. Your mentor helps you distill your business to its essence and thus focus on only the activities that matter right now.

Your coach holds you accountable to the goals you set and commitments you make, while also helping you remove any internal roadblocks/blind spots you may encounter on the road to success. Your community provides a fun group of like-minded entrepreneurs who are fellow travelers.

Your vision is your own, and is unaffected by others' desires, expectations or beliefs in you. Be bold in creating your vision, and reach not just for what you want, but also for what you want for your loved ones. Make your vision so powerful that, each time you revisit it, you are moved, inspired and reconnected with your reason for working on your business, and the legacy you want to leave.

Take a moment now and envision your company's future. We guide our Business Growth Blueprint program members through a detailed vision exercise to facilitate this essential exercise. Make Your Blog Go Viral

People tend to think of blogs today the way that websites were thought of ten years ago: “All I have to do is get a site up and I’ll instantly get tons of traffic and my business will take off.” That was the case for a brief time with websites, but it’s no longer the case with blogs.

Here are 13 practical ways you can grow the readership of your blog to help it go viral:

1. First determine why you’re blogging. Who is your audience? What are your goals? What are your readers interested in? If you create compelling content for readers, readers will naturally come back to your blog to read more.

2. Do basic research. Go to Technorati and search for keywords related to your target audience and the topics you want to focus on. While there, try to answer these questions: Who are the influential bloggers in your space? Who is successful at getting in front of the readers you want to get in front of?

3. Avoid sub domains. Never set up a blog under a sub-domain. Install your blog on your own domain as a sub-page, or if you don’t have a domain, get one

4. Create a content schedule. Determine a steady schedule for how you’ll post, and plan ahead to create structure around your workload. If you plan to post on Tuesdays and Fridays, for example, put it on your calendar. While you’re at it, take the time to determine what topics you’ll cover on those days.

5. Be personal. Post a photo of yourself and/or your team, and write good bios to enhance your credibility and demonstrate that you’re a real person to your readers. This engages your audience.

6. Be first. Being the first one to post breaking news is a relatively easy way to go viral.

7. Stay on top of what other bloggers are saying. If an influential blogger posts about a topic and you disagree with their viewpoint, link to their post and state your position. Don’t worry about taking a different position or even being negative, as long as you’re not insulting. Disagreement creates interaction and interaction builds a community. If you say the same thing everyone else does, why should people read your blog?

8. Pay attention to social networking sites. Take the time to study the social sites to see what people like. An article that goes “popular” on Digg can generate tens of thousands of visitors to your site. The same is true for StumbleUpon or del.icio.us

9. Stay in control of your blog. Real time statistics from your blog are important, so keep up with your live stats so you can see what works and what doesn’t.

10. Make it easy for your readers: Put your RSS feed in a prominent place. RSS feeds let users display the content from multiple blogs through one program so they can easily see the latest posts from all their favorite blogs. Many visitors prefer to use RSS feeds to subscribe to your content so they don’t have to visit your blog through a browser.

11. Rinse and repeat. Watch your blog carefully to see what works. And know that some blogs do better on StumbleUpon, some blogs do really well on Digg, and others seem to perform better on del.icio.us.

12. Don’t try to please everyone. Have opinions and stand by them. Even if everyone doesn’t love what you do, that’s okay. Some of my favorite blogs are ones I frequently disagree with. Even though I have a different opinion their posts make me think … which makes me come back for more.

13. Finally, don’t get discouraged. Many bloggers write a couple of posts, don’t see much traffic, and give up. Building a readership and going viral takes time and experience. It takes effort to find ways to get your particular audience to visit, comment on your posts, and recommend you to others – but it’s worth it.

Do this and you're bound to see your blog go viral gathering more and more traffic to your sites and your offers.

Change Is Truly In The Air

Dear Reader,

I want to talk about the "surge". No, not the one in Iraq but the one happening right now, today in America.

I was watching c-span the other night and I came across Barack Obama talking to a huge crowd in Ohio. He was charasmatically mesmerizing to say the least but what really caught my eye was his interest in bring back, and nurturing, the ARTS.

This is important because he is the only candidate that even mentions the imbalance that is prevalent in society today, something I have dedicated my life to changing as well with my non profit United Arts Movement International.

According to what he said, he will bring arts, nutrition, scholastic excellence and invest in our youth, and I have to say that makes me feel real good about Barack Obama. Look, I'm not politically involved usually because, well, over the years I have seen the deterioration of our political system, especially the voting aspect of it. I just lost faith in it and haven't voted in over 30 years.

But there is something about Barack, his wife Michelle and the campaign he is running. When he speaks, he doesn't look at some paper with the same words we've heard year after year, like his opponents do. He speaks from his heart; you can tell.

They are telling it like it IS, to coin a phrase from Howard Cosell, and that's more than anyone has done in politics in longer than I can remember, and that's a long time. Their truths are apparent and up front and even if you don't agree with their truths, you must admire them for standing up for them.

Michelle Obama the other day said that for the FIRST TIME, she was proud of America. All the pundits went crazy over that phrase as if she were some kind of traitor but in fact her truth was that politics had abandoned America and its people in favor of profits from the war, corporate injustices and law breaking situations from the current administration.

Any american with eyes open can see what she meant and I agree with her especially when America, and those that can, begin supporting the Arts Movement once again. This is the biggest step in the change that is needed and United Arts Movement International leads the way in bringing the balance and emotional release our young people require to manifest positive outcomes to any negative situation they happen to find themselves in.

So do I endorse Barack Obama? I certainly do but do you have to in order to support the United Arts Movement International? You certainly do not and your contribution to help me lower teen suicides, depression and violence, to stop mass murders in our colleges, malls and public places by young adults lacking balance in their lives, is much needed and always appreciated.

Doing Internet Marketing or Anything Spiritually, and Attaining

The superbowl this year turned out pretty well and the interesting part of this game was that it pitted "the cerebral against the brawn".

You have Manning, who has a cranium the size of a watermelon and one of the savviest coaches in Tony Dungy to ever play the game utilizing the best his team has to offer.

Then there is Urlacher, who has the neck as wide as the Sears Tower is tall, is a big nasty but fast player with a coach Lovie Smith, who is also very savvy.

Interestingly enough both these teams prepared themselves early on physically but more importantly mentally to attain the right to fight in the super bowl. I say fight because it is not a game for children. It truly is a fight to the finish.

That's not an easy feat because there are "obstacles" along the way like twenty five other teams vying for the same target, the press putting every player down, not to mention thoughts of everyday life they must overcome in order to reach the pinnacle of success!

So it is with you if you are on the path of reaching a higher plane than where you are at now.

You must prepare yourself, "mentally" as well as keeping your balance in the other areas of your life too. Balance is key to the preparation formula of success because without it you can never stay focused long enough to attain your dream.

Yes you must have:

a burning desire
have specialized knowledge
take action
staying focused
being decisive

But you must understand that having balance in your life is key in having success in your life.

And mentally you must always go over the positive steps that will bring to you that which you desire most. You have to believe in yourself that your vision is in alignment with what you really want.

Anyway, I want to address a few things here about being an "online E-preneur" and what it takes. I'm talking about my experiences but I can guarantee that everyone that starts a business feels like this and goes through this including all the "BIG GURUS" you've heard about.

I started out as an online e-preneur several years ago. Back then, it was all narcissistic really. More like, "Look at me! I'm online! A-nuk nuk". Shit, I didn't have any idea of the potential the internet had or what the heck being online was really all about.

Truth is I struggled much like many of you are today. To be even more frank, sometimes I struggle today. Yep, even still and perhaps not in the same way as back then, but with the new things I am trying to accomplish.

You've all heard the different axioms like:

1. The 80/20 rule
2. The money is in the list
3. I'll help you build a list with my program for FREE except you get three names every ten weeks
4. I'll help you if you give me 10,000 bucks and 500 a month

I could go on and on because I have heard it all. So folks, this is not a negative post. What I want you to do is FOCUS; focus on who you are and what you do really well.

Don't fall into the trap of believing that if you join all these programs and buy all these products you'll be rich overnight! Yeah, 5 or 10 years later it will look like overnight, and that's only if you persevere and stick with it.

The Who asked the question well. Who are you? What do you know really well that you think others, like you, know how to do?

Ask yourself, what's your main motivation as to what and why you want to be an online entrepreneur. Do you really even know? Do you have a unique selling proposition and do you know what that really is or means?

Do you have a plan of action and have you written it down so you can come back to it later and see if you are accomplishing your goals and actions? Having a plan of action will give you the insight you need. . . into yourself and your belief of your business.

Yes, business because being online cruising and surfing is not a business. Creating a website without really knowing what you are selling to people that actually relate to you is a losing proposition.

Focus my friend, on yourself, what you want your lifestyle to be and will your online experience provide you the lifestyle you seek? You see it is not all dollars and cents all the time. It really is a LIFE CHOICE and your online business must support that lifestyle you want to attain and relish.

Otherwise you have traded one JOB for another JOB, and that is not the way to go. You might as well stay where you are at. But if you can have free time to spend with your children, sleep in when you want to, golf whenever you feel like it and play hoochie coochie with your lover when you want, then start focusing on your who you are and where you are so you can get to where you want to be.

One of my mentors taught me that and I haven't looked back ever since.

As with any business, you're "dead in the water" unless there are paying customers to keep you "afloat". Those customers are called 'Traffic' (whether you're operating Online or Offline).

But how do you get targeted Traffic (your prospective customers)to look in your direction in the quickest time possible? I'll answer that in 3 letters...

PPC... Otherwise known as 'Pay Per Click' advertising.

A simplistic explanation of P.P.C advertising is that you're paying when someone clicks on an Ad that you've placed whichis writtenn to attract very targeted customers who are searchingfor yourr exact product or service.

How are they searching? By entering Keywords and phrasesinto thee search engines. All you need to do to get your "billboard" in front of them isto make a list of the Keywords that most of these people are using (to search for your products or services) and bid on those Keywords on a per-click basis.

Most P.P.C. search engines typically allow a minimum of 10 cents per click (some may be as low as .05 cents). It's easy to find out what Keywords are being used in the search engines. I use a free piece of software called Good Keywords to extract this information from the search engines in just seconds.

Let me share with you a story about this single mom on welfare and what happened to her. This is as inspiring as it can get.

What Google Doesn't Tell You About Adsense

What Do I Do If My AdSense Account Gets Closed?

A week does not go by that I don't get an email from someone telling me that their AdSense account was closed.

Most often, the email from the AdSense team starts with...

"It has come to our attention that invalid clicks have been generated on the Google ads on your site(s). We have therefore disabled your Google AdSense account. Please understand that this step was taken in an effort to protect the interest of the AdWords advertisers."

The notice goes on to state that an account can be closed for a variety of reason, including violations of terms of service. Frequently, the reason cited is "invalid clicks"

An email to Google usually solicits this response...

"As you know, Google treats instances of invalid clicks very seriously. By disabling your account, we feel that we have taken the necessary measures to ensure that invalid clicks will not continue to occur on your site. Due to the proprietary nature of our monitoring system, we're not able to disclose any specific details of these clicks."

So what is an AdSense publisher to do when their account is closed?

First of all, realize that very few succeed in getting their accounts reopened. But that doesn't mean it is impossible!

Start by evaluating your server logs. Is there an unusual amount of traffic coming from one IP? Could it be that you are a victim of a vigilante click attack?

If this is the case, be sure to save a copy of this data as you will need it to show to Google.
Next, write to Google and ask them to clarify their reason.

BE POLITE! Realize that there is another human being reading your email and they are simply doing their job.

If you run up against a roadblock, write them again and plead your case. If you are certain that you did not violate TOS and that you are not responsible for any fraudulent clicks, you can say so with a clear conscience.

Note: If you share your computer with another person, make sure that person or persons is not responsible for clicking on your ads. They might have thought they were doing you a a favor!

Google is pretty good about responding, so wait and see what they say. BE POLITE! Don't demand that your account be reopened. Don't get all flustered or vent anger through your email.
This won't serve any purpose.

Explain everything that you have done in regards to AdSense. If you don't hear from Google, don't give up! If you know you are innocent, simply continue politely writing their team. Be sure to keep track of all correspondence and leave it attached to each email you send.

Occasionally... and I do mean ocassionally, Google will review the suspected fraudulent clicks and find that you have not done anything wrong. I know for a fact that accounts HAVE been reinstated.

There are no guarantees. But it never hurts to ask.

And did I mention...
When writing Google... BE POLITE!

If all else fails, perhaps it is time to try another contextual ad service for your site(s). Some to experiment with are:

She is also executive chairman of Globalization Economic Cooperation & Promotion Network Ltd., a company half-owned by the Chinese government. "We are spending a lot of money on the Olympics," says Wang, who was in San Diego in February to meet with Ethos executives. "We are confident that EthosFR will improve air quality for the event."

But before they tackle Beijing's infamous air pollution, the highly polluted Yangtze River region will benefit first. Emission standards have been adopted for the small container ships that ply the Yangtze and other rivers in China.

Previously, the ships were unregulated and belched plumes of hydrocarbon-laden smoke, polluting the surrounding air. Although the use of EthosFR has not been mandated, so far it's the only additive the government has approved for use, and a production facility in China is in the works.

About a dozen products were tested, but only Ethos passed muster. "Ethos is a natural, nontoxic product," Wang says, "and has no after burn" —meaning it does not create any additional emissions, as do petrochemical-based additives and ethanol. What's more, it's been found to reduce fuel consumption enough to pay for itself.

"The air-quality regulations in China were comparable to the 1950s in the United States, so we are a solution for them," says Ethos president Enrique De Vilmorin. "If you take 15 percent off the emission rolls in any city, you're going to make a difference." He expects to reduce emissions by much more, however.

The product is formulated to reduce exhaust emissions 30 to 40 percent, and at least one company in San Diego has achieved emission reductions of nearly 80 percent in some of its equipment. The ester-based EthosFR cleans and lubricates an engine's internal parts without using petroleum-derived solvents.

It acts like soap, removing carbon deposits and reducing friction. This improves engine performance, reducing fuel consumption as well as harmful emissions. One ounce treats 10 gallons of fuel. "It's ash less," De Vilmorin says, explaining that 99.99 percent of the patented product is consumed during engine combustion. In fact, emission tests show a significant increase in oxygen levels from engines with EthosFR in the fuel, further improving air quality.

Of the company's name, De Vilmorin explains, "We're an ethical company that has ethical customers, and we sell ethical products. In addition to China, EthosFR is used in Thailand. In South America, Ecuador will begin adding it to fuel supplies in June to reduce air pollution in Quito. Peru and Chile are expected to follow suit later in the year, and a pilot program is under way in Mexico City.

ETHOS ENVIRONMENTAL is not only cleaning the air, it's cleaning up. The company, which was slated to go public in March, reported $9 million in sales in 2004. This year, the company expects revenue of $100 million from China and Ecuador alone. Sales in the company's home country will only be a fraction of total revenue, however.

A number of commercial truck fleet operators use the fuel additive, the U.S. Marine Corps adds the product to the fuel burned in its hovercraft, and the U.S. State Department ordered EthosFR for its Humvees in Iraq earlier this year. . I was talking to my friend Michael Penland the other day about when is the best time to send emails out to your list. Some people say weekends, others on Tuesday, but never on a Friday is what I'm told. Why I asked him? This is what he told me . . .

What's the best day to send an email to your list? Most marketers can not give you a definitive answer, except to to say that Fridays are the pits. Upon what do they base this statement that Friday is the worse day for emailing?

Probably because someone told someone who told someone and the thought gained support. But what are the facts? Here they are:

An analysis of 14 months of email marketing which included 230,000 campaigns by email and 2.7 billion email messages from 4,000 mar-keting organizations revealed that the open rate for email is actually better for Friday than any other day.

Open rates for emails sent on Fridays was 39.6%. Slightly higher than Thursday open rate of 39%. Why are these facts important?

You can improve email open rates and thus responses and sales by moving more emails to Friday sends. One word of warning though:

The advantage of Friday emailing may be due to the simple fact that the "myth" about Friday emailing keeps most people from sending an email offer on Friday. Less competition means higher open rates.

Most of you know that for years I've been sending the majority of my email offers on Thursdays and Fridays. That's because I'm such a great, brilliant "guru" right? No way! It's called testing and "path of least resistance" strategy.

I know that fewer emails are sent over the weekend. That means less resistance to open the email and fewer competitors trying to grab your attention.

Want more ...Strategic mar*keting insight? The highest click-through rate in the study was 6.9% for Sundays. The month influences this also.

The average varied from 4.9% in June to 8.3% in October. Remember: In the Summer people are outdoors and away from their computer. In the Winter months they spend more time with their computer inside.

Another factor to getting your emails opened is the "Subject" line. During the 2005 holiday season, 43% of consumers opened emails with a compelling subject line. You can also segment your list by gender. Men respond better to fresh content and new products. Women find promotions and sales more appealing.

Use it in the subject line. Optimizing the subject line this way can increase your open rates by up to 25 percent.

"To subscribe to an RSS feed in IE 7, a user simply clicks on a subscribe button in a toolbar that runs across the top of the browser. Users can then see a preview of the feed and add it to a list of favorites.

'The XML code has been transformed into a nice view over the feed,' said Dean Hachamovitch, general manager of the Internet Explorer team at Microsoft.
Microsoft also added in IE 7 a feature that lets users search through content by filtering down quickly to specific information.

The demonstrations showed how to add an RSS feed from the BBC news site and how to subscribe to a feed from an MSN shopping query for iPods.
'It's not just about IE, [but] about IE and Windows enabling a very easy experience to have subscriptions,' Hachamovitch said. 'The subscription experience [is] exposed at a very high level inside the browser.'

The new feed subscription gets added to a list of feeds inside IE. 'The great thing about putting [subscriptions] in the browser is there is a common feed list,' Hachamovitch said.

An unnamed prototype that uses list extensions to allow users to create customised feeds was also demonstrated."

Grassroots effort helping the Katrina victims in Redding, California.

Hi everyone.

We have all heard by now, the debates back and forth on who did what, or better yet, who did not do what. While the government agencies point the fingers at each other, we realize everybody got caught with their pants down. Including us and the citizens of the gulf coast regions.

Most people, even the the poorest, disenfranchised, and homeless have a television, have access to a television, or even word of mouth that a massive hurricane is bearing down on them. Common sense tells us that the wisest thing to do is to get the frick out of a place that is about to be destroyed.

Now, the poorest people, the disenfranchised and homeless, do not have a way to get out, even if they did know this massive storm is about to wipeout everything they own and have come to cherish. And those are the people that needed to be evacuated before the storm bore down on them with a fury not seen in decades.

That's where our government agencies failed us, but come on people, we have to stop depending on our "government" to help us or warn us about anything because it ain't gonna happen. We have to take care of ourselves and help each other. Perhaps those of us that have televisions and access to information on natural disasters bearing down, maybe we could have gone door to door, call people or do whatever we could have done to prepare or help evacuate those that are our neighbors.

Bush is an idiot and all of the people under him are as well. The governors and mayors are as stupid as they come too. They all knew this was coming and did nothing. We have to take the blame too because we too failed each other. We should have warned each other about this impending disaster and done something about it.

The light in this otherwise dark situation is that after the disaster hit, we have, as a human race and Americans, decided to take matters into our own hands and help each other after all. Forget the inane and inept government that we voted, well not in this case because as we all know this administration was seized by force, both times.

Forget them is what we did and just got into the fray of helping each other out. Through the Red Cross and the organizations that are actually doing something, we can help our brothers and sisters anywhere; everywhere.

Yesterday and through the late evening here in Redding, California, we came together and did our part. Red Cross stations were held all over the city in different locations in the surrounding towns and people would drive by and donate. Some donated thousands of dollars while others donated just dollars, but all donated something.

My band, the Majical band, not only donated our time to be a part of this effort but the proceeds of tee shirts and CD's that were sold went directly into the Red Cross money boxes. It is a small part but it is an effort we will continue to do and I feel that anything we can do as a group or as individuals is an effort worth being a part of.

It is heartwarming and satisfying to know that even in the far reaches of the country, a small town like Redding, is doing their part to help each other. All the small towns across the nation, as well as the megalopolises, are doing their part as a grassroots effort, as a nation, as Americans and as human beings. This is what being a person of this planet is all about. Respect each other and help one another, always.

Today I want to talk about maintaining your high rankings in the Google, Yahoo, and MSN search engines.

Once you have secured your Top Ten positon in google, yahoo and msn using the techniques learned from your copy of "The RSS Mystery Solved", in order to maintain it there, you still have to do what is essential to keep it there.

That's just the way it is but no matter what, if your copy stinks, all that stuff isn't going to matter one bit because you would have failed in your mission to convert the visitor into a buying customer.

"7 Secrets of Believable Writing"

Many subscribers ask me this important question. "How can I make my sales copy more believable?" This is the best question a student of copywriting can ever ask. Why? The answer is key to all successful communication.

Believability and trust in all forms of communication, especially in advertising copy, is absolutely necessary. But the same principle applies to speaking and all non-fiction writing. Otherwise, no one will believe you.

And without trust, they absolutely will not buy an idea or product from you, now or ever. Believability is clearly crucially important. That's why it's astonishing that it is almost completely missing from the work of nearly all writers, speakers and communicators. Most ad agencies, copywriters and entrepreneurs suffer enormous negative consequences, starting with poor results.

And they don't have a clue as to how to cure it. Yet no one who understands this issue, and so few that do has ever tried to teach the real behind-the-scenes secrets. Until today. While I've never revealed these seven secrets before, I'm going to show you what steps to take to build that indispensable element of credibility.

Here are my seven rules:

1. Tell the absolute truth! So much copy is completely untrue. People are much smarter than you may think. I believe even when you stretch the truth, let alone tell an outright lie, the prospective
purchaser can sense something is very wrong. They simply stop reading.

Here is how I look at it. Nearly all consumers have within them what acts like an infallible BS detector. And they won't read or respond to untruthful copy. Thank heavens they won't ever order a
thing from you based on BS. This is as it should be--the true justice of the marketplace.

2. Be authentically yourself! In many ways, the hardest person to ever be in a real and honest sense is yourself! You must find a unique speaking voice/style, and consistently use it. Here are a few tips on developing your style.

a. Create a really interesting character--you. Be as free and eccentric as you are at your best moments. Don't cover up the real you as do most of the world. On the contrary, let out your true self. Bring family members into your copy. If you have a ne'er-do-well brother or football-nut sister, or colorful mother or father, or control freak husband or wife, or friend who is a real character, write about them in your copy. People love to read about colorful people.

b. Use everyday expressions and slang you usually use when you speak or write. For example, if you normally say "dang it" or "shucks" or "darned tootin'" or "hell yes" or "butt out" or "dag blast it," use it. It's really you. Can you imagine an ad agency trying this? Caveat: If you use profanity, I strongly recommend you never use it in your copy. You will surely offend many readers. One well-known copywriter uses profanity liberally in his newsletters to a niche market that happens to love his style. But this is an exception.

Tip: Avoid "ad speak." Do not even try to communicate using the typical style of advertising agency hype. While it's very common, easy to spot and prepare, no consumer ever reads or believes such
hopeless drivel.

3. Make bold promises but make sure to prove each claim.

4. Tell short stories within your copy. Everyone has loved stories since language began. You can tell a short story in as few as 3 to 5 sentences. A good place to study story telling and discover what is known as an anecdotal opening is in "Reader's Digest." Every article begins with a short story. And that's a big reason "Reader's Digest" is the most popular magazine ever published with
over 17 mil.lion readers.

5. Use specific numbers. For example, never say "I earned over 17,000 last month." It sounds like B.S. Say "My tax accountant shows I earned 17,437 last month." Tip: Any copy point you ever make must not only be true. For believability, it must seem true. Most of the world use generalities. Specific numbers are vital tools in your hands.

6. Specify where geographically you or other main characters are from. It feels more real because it is. E.g. "College Dropout From Asbury Park Becomes a Mil.lionaire Writer!"

7. Include the occupation of the main character in your copy. "Part-time Physical Therapist From Chicago E^rns 1,077,833.00 in the Last 12 Months on the Internet." Use as many of these 7 secrets as possible throughout your copy. But remember, the headline is always the most important element. As always, begin your efforts with the all-important headline. Your headline's task is to stop people long enough to read the first few sentences. Use these tips immediately and watch your sales explode!

Hello Everybody.

Well, maybe not a man of wealth but plenty of taste. . .tastebuds that is. No, I am wealthy in many respects, but of course that is quite subjective as to what wealthy means or what it represents. It doesn't always mean money. FREEDOM is the highest form of wealth in my opinion, while money a real, close second. :-))

So am I a guru? Not by a long shot. Even though I started out on the internet in 1996 or 1997, I can't claim that I have made mucho dinero or even significant dinero online. To be honest, it has taken me years, tears, blood and sweat just to get here where I am now. Do I know a lot more now than I did back then about being successful online? You betcha by golly, WOW!!

What turned that around? Well, a couple of things really. I decided to not re-invent the wheel and to open my ears and eyes, while shutting my mouth or my pre-conceived notions of what it takes to make vulgar amounts of money. Am I there yet? It would be vulgar to say I am but I can say this; I am approaching the landing strip fast and coming in for a smooth landing.

What's happened is I found out some secret pearls of wisdom about why the GURUS make un-godly amounts of money morally, ethically and soundly. But, I was taken by more than my share of so-called GURUS while taking it in the shorts, not to mention my back pocket where the wallet resides. Live and learn right? Yeah, that's my point. You have to shut-up and learn from those who have gone where no man (or wo-man) has gone before. Actually, online, the sex thing is eliminated. Doesn't matter if you're a man or non-man, you're either smart and you absorb and learn before you attempt to be successful online, or you're stupid and you think you know better. Meanwhile you watch your dreams, and your money go down the tube. Down, down, down. . . Am I always learning? Totally, man. . .er. . .woman :-)) whatever.

It's weird. I do lots of things really. I am a writer, songwriter, performer and entrepreneur. They all go hand in hand because we are always trying to get what we do out there to someone. . .Somebody, right? It's all marketing once you have identified your market.

When you were a child and you wanted to show off a newfound talent, let's say dancing. Who was your target market? Well, it was your mom and dad first. Once you showed them and got approval from them, you went to your cousins and aunts and uncles, grandma or grandpa too. After they whooped it up and congratulating you and all that, you went further out. You went to your friends. Now you were going to a market that was a bit more risky.

These people, your friends, were going to be a bit more critical of you but if you sold them on your talent, then you had them and you made the big splash. Now you knew you could go back to them and give them more, and they would buy it because you already made a big splash with them before.

That my friends is what marketing is all about. Identifying your market first then taking your "product" to that market. But before that, find a willing market, a hot market, target that market and get the product they want, and they'll buy from you. Over and over.

One of the things I do is play in a kick-ass band called Majical and before I even started the band eight years ago, I checked out the scene, the market first, then went from there. In this area, Redding, California at the time had mucho top forty bands, blues and rock bands. No one was doing Latino style music at all. And Latino music rules because you can dance to it all the time and that's what the local hotties wanted. They wanted to shake their beautiful behinds and lure men into their traps!! Oops, I digress.

So I identified my market found out that it was and what was needed here and people wanted here, then I went forward with the Majical machine. A couple of years later Ricky Martin comes on the scene and we ride the crest of the "new Latino craze" taking over the country. A couple of years after that, Carlos Santana does a "comeback", which is ridiculous because he never left!! I had no idea that was about to happen but I'm glad it did. I wouldn't have had the success I encountered if I just played cuntry or blooze and not something new like Latino Cumbia music.

Moral of the story? Learn and find your HOT MARKET and then sell to that market. No, I'm not John Winston Lennon, nor JohnandYoko Lennon, but I have identified with him all of my life and before. The funny thing is that I write songs about him, poetry about him and have had many dreams of him and so I ask myself, am I obsessed? No, I just miss Him.

I'm just a musician slash writer slash poet slash a marketer of my art, service and products. I have come through many changes in my life, but here is the best place so far. Being all these things is great because they are inter-related. . .is that a word? Who cares. . .

So look, this is my first entry and from here I will share myself, and help you find your place in the online world for your art, product or service. And if you are Latino, born here, otherwise known as pocho, you'll identify with me on many levels I believe. Hey, that doesn't mean I will not identify with my Caucasian brethren or they with me, but latinos are, well, a race unto ourselves.

Not trying to insult anyone so don't take it that way. That will come later and in my other blogs, the Majical and El Nicoya weblogs. No, I'm kidding. I'll insult you here too.
